Quality of Life

What's the purpose

At the Seniors HelpDesk, we believe that every senior deserves to live their golden years with dignity, respect, and joy. Yet, far too often, seniors face challenges that hinder their ability to enjoy a high quality of life. From mistreatment and neglect to social isolation and financial exploitation, many seniors encounter obstacles that compromise their well-being.

Quality of Life refers to a senior's right to be free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and any form of mistreatment that threatens their well-being and undermines their sense of security and autonomy.

Why Seniors Face Challenges

Many seniors find themselves vulnerable to neglect, abuse and fraud due to a variety of factors:

  • Isolation: Social isolation is a prevalent issue among seniors, particularly those living alone or in facilities where they may lack meaningful social connections and support networks.
  • Health Issues: Physical and mental health conditions can make seniors more susceptible to mistreatment, as they may be unable to advocate for themselves or recognize when they are being mistreated.
  • Dependency: Seniors may become dependent on caregivers or family members for their daily needs, placing them at risk of mistreatment or abuse if those individuals are not trustworthy or capable of providing adequate care.
  • Financial Vulnerability: Many seniors face financial challenges, whether due to fixed incomes, limited savings, or exploitation by others who seek to take advantage of their financial resources.
  • Lack of Awareness: Some seniors may not be aware of their rights or the resources available to them, making them more vulnerable to mistreatment or unsure of how to seek help when needed.
