What's the purpose

Our "Know Your Options" is the second step or phase of our Quality of Life Program, focused on providing seniors with information and resources to explore various options available to them when faced with mistreatment such as neglect, abuse, or fraud. By empowering seniors to make informed decisions and take appropriate action, we aim to enhance their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life.

Advocate For Your Options

Empowerment comes from knowing your options and having the support to take action. With the Know Your Options sessions, seniors gain the knowledge and resources they need to navigate challenging situations with confidence.

In the Know Your Options, seniors engage in educational activities and receive support from our advocates and long-term care ombudsman to understand the options available to them in situations of mistreatment. Through workshops, seminars, and informational materials, seniors explore their rights and the steps they can take to address mistreatment effectively.

How it works

  • Registration: Seniors can easily sign up for the Know Your Options sessions through our user-friendly registration process, either online or by phone. Registration is simple and hassle-free, ensuring that seniors can access the program with ease.
  • Participate Online or In-person: Participants have the flexibility to engage in workshops and seminars either online or in-person, depending on their preferences and convenience. Whether from the comfort of their own home or at a physical location, seniors can access valuable resources and information.
  • Options for Neglect:
    • Report to Authorities: Seniors can report cases of neglect to appropriate authorities, such as adult protective services or regulatory agencies overseeing care facilities. Our advocates and long-term care ombudsman will assist them with the reporting process, regardless of where the mistreatment occurred.
    • Seek Alternative Care: If neglected in a care facility, seniors can explore options for transferring to a different facility or seeking alternative forms of care that prioritize their well-being. Our advocates and ombudsman will provide guidance and support throughout this process.
    • Seek Legal Advice: Seniors can consult with legal professionals specializing in elder law to explore legal remedies for addressing neglect and holding responsible parties accountable. Our advocates will assist them in finding appropriate legal resources and navigating the legal system.
  • Options for Abuse:
    • Report to Authorities: Seniors can report cases of abuse to law enforcement or adult protective services, initiating investigations and legal proceedings against the perpetrators. Our advocates and ombudsman will accompany them through the reporting and investigative process.
    • Seek Protective Measures: Seniors can seek protective orders or restraining orders against the abuser to ensure their safety and prevent further harm. Our advocates will help seniors understand their options and assist them in obtaining necessary legal protections.
    • Access Support Services: Victims of abuse can access support services such as counseling, advocacy, and shelter to address the emotional and practical consequences of abuse. Our advocates will connect seniors with these support services and provide ongoing assistance.
  • Options for Fraud:
    • Report to Authorities: Seniors should report cases of fraud to law enforcement and regulatory agencies, initiating investigations and legal actions against the perpetrators. Our advocates will support seniors in reporting the fraud and navigating the investigative process.
    • Seek Legal Recourse: Seniors can pursue civil lawsuits against individuals or entities involved in perpetrating fraud, seeking restitution for financial losses and damages. Our advocates will assist seniors in finding legal representation and pursuing appropriate legal remedies.
    • Educate Others: Seniors can educate themselves and others about common scams and fraud schemes, helping to prevent future incidents of fraud within their communities. Our advocates will provide educational resources and support seniors in raising awareness about fraud prevention.
